HAPPY NEW YEAR!
12/27/07A celebração do ano novo foi vista pela primeira vez, aproximadamente, 4000 anos atrás na Babilônia antiga. Outras tradições da festa incluem: a elaboração de resoluções para o ano novo, a tradição de usar um bebê para significar o ano novo, que começou na Grécia, 600 AC. Era a tradição deles naquele momento celebrar o deus do vinho, Dionísio, desfilando um bebê em uma cesta, representando o renascimento anual daquele deus como o espírito da fertilidade. Outra tradição é que a pessoa poderia afetar sua sorte, que teria ao longo do próximo ano, pelo que ela fazia ou comia no primeiro dia do ano. Por isso, ficou comum para povos celebrarem os primeiros minutos de um ano novo na companhia da família e amigos.
Bem, há tantas tradições, mas a mais importante para mim é lhe desejar o melhor em 2008, porque você é parte de minha vida, de meus sonhos, de minha amizade.

The celebration of the new year was first observed in ancient Babylon about 4000 years ago. Other traditions of the season include: the making of New Year's resolutions, the tradition of using a baby to signify the new year, which was begun in Greece around 600 BC. It was their tradition at that time to celebrate their god of wine, Dionysus, by parading a baby in a basket, representing the annual rebirth of that god as the spirit of fertility. Another tradition is one could affect the luck they would have throughout the coming year by what they did or ate on the first day of the year. For that reason, it has become common for folks to celebrate the first few minutes of a brand new year in the company of family and friends.
Well, there are so many traditions, but the most important to me is to wish you the best in 2008, because you are part of my life, of my dreams, of my friendship.
