"True Bug" (maybe Lygaeidae, Hemiptera) on Palmer's Goldenbush

11/10/09
Another pretty little "True Bug" (order Hemiptera) - maybe in the family Lygaeidae? This one is perched on a composite flower of Palmer's Goldenbush (Ericameria palmeri var. pachylepis) growing on the dry flood plain by the river. (Paradise, Santa Ynez River, 10 November 2009)

I went to the Santa Ynez River before school today. It's on the way, only a few miles from home. I live on top of the mountains, and this part of the river is directly below us.
