Parent House Wren bringing food to its almost fledged young

7/17/09
You can tell it's time for the kids to move out when...
...they almost bite your head off when you go to feed them!

This parent House Wren (Troglodytes aedon) is bringing food to its almost fledged young - for almost the last time. I got this photo late in the day on Wednesday, and on Thursday (yesterday) they were gone from the nest. (San Marcos Pass, 15 July 2009)

Human parents will sympathize!
(I've been there!)

This is the third brood that these wrens have raised this year. They are the only one of the three nesting pairs of birds around home that raised three broods. It's interesting that they didn't sing for these babies. I guess the hormones stopped pumping, but they still knew what to do.

Wonderful this mama care!

i guess three broods in one year is demonstative of a short memory.

Looks nhammy!
