Remarkable Weed's Mariposa Lily (Calochortus fimbriata)

Here's another photo of the remarkable summer wildflower of Weed's Mariposa Lily (Calochortus weedii var. vestus) - now renamed as C. fimbriata - in the Lily (Lilium) family. I've heard it called the "Late-flowered Mariposa Lily" which makes sense.
It's remarkable looking - and it's also remarkable because it's a lily that picks the middle of our bone-dry summer drought to flower. (San Marcos Pass, 14 July 2009)
Yesterday's flower was from East Camino Cielo, but today's photos are from West Camino Cielo - by the first place where you can see the burn. (Get there soon Lynn - they won't last!)
