The Clash en la gira por estados unidos con la incorporacion de Terry Chimes tras la expulsion de Topper. Heandonon cuenta en el documental de Strummer que Joe le habia dicho que se recuperede su adiccion y vuelva a la banda y que daria un comunicado de prensa que los motivos de sus salida serian por agotamiento mental por los momentos de alta repercusion que tenia los clash; semanas despues Joe que tenia una mama terrible sale a decir que echaron a Topper por ser drogadicto.
Topper reconoce actualmente que era un adicto y no le importaba nada en esos momentos tambien que fue una gran carga para la banda que su baterista no pueda ni tocar.
Topper tambien fue el compositor de todos los instrumentos en Rock the Casbah, comenta que un dia llego temprano al estudio y no habia nadie, asi fue que hizo el piano, la guitarra y el grupo no llegaba entonces siguio con el bajo y la bateria, cuando todos habian llegado solo le faltaba letra, Joe se encargo de escribir la letra en una noche en un hotel de los estados unidos.

Sobre Rock the Casbah; la canción aparentemente tiene mucho que ver con la prohibición del rock en muchos países islámicos donde la música de rock esta prohibida.
Otras anécdotas de esta canción fue también que en la primera guerra del golfo en la primera emisión de radio del ejercito fue el tema que se emitió para todas las fuerzas armas y se convirtió en el lema del ejercito estadounidense.
