Happy Independence Day, to those in the US! I kind of like the idea of those who are calling it Inter-Dependence day, as we are all connected, these days. I read an interesting article by Jim Hightower, where he warned us that democracy only works with active participants, and that we cannot sit back and let our wonderful President to take care of things for us. Hightower recalled "Agitators created America, and it's their feisty spirit and outright rebelliousness that we celebrate on our national holiday. I don't merely refer to the Founders, either. Thomas Jefferson, George Washington, James Madison, Ben Franklin and the rest certainly were derring-do agitators when they wrote the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution and the Bill of Rights, creating the framework for a democratic republic. But they didn't actually create much democracy. In the first presidential election, only 4 percent of the people were even eligible to vote. No women allowed, no African Americans, no American Indians and no one who was landless." http://www.truthout.org/070409A

Some hopeful news out today too, from Iran:
"The most important group of religious leaders in Iran has called the disputed presidential election and the new government illegitimate, an act of defiance against the country’s supreme leader and the most public sign of a major split in the country’s clerical establishment." http://www.nytimes.com/2009/07/05/world/middleeast/05iran.html?_r=2&ref=global-home

besos Ri!

Hey, Rich: In meterorology, there's a cloud formation called a "mackerelsky." Now you've created its complement, the "salmon sky." Nice effect (and full of Omega 3's). :-) Bests, Paul

Hi, Rich! I love your crazy sunsets!

hugs

Wonderful Rich!

What ever you do it turns out great

Yesterday I spoke with a woman from iran on chat
She told me everything was OK although she said she was from Esfahan.
I did not want toask her exactly the situation as thi scould cause her trouble if its monitored??
Best wishes :-)

Hello Rich, thanks for your visit and birthday wishes. For the most part I try to ignore my b-day these days. I've had enough.

Those concrete sculptures have been at the arboretum for quite some time. They may have been there when you were there. I'm not exactly sure. I like them especially against the trees and the sky. I've seen them many times but still can't resist taking pictures.

Nice alteration. I still look forward to my day at the beach. Maybe this coming weekend with a little like. Our weather is better but still not stable.

I hope you enjoy the day, Greg

this looks more post-nuclear, i would say!

Great !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hugs

Carme
