I had really enjoyed Irrfan Khan's acting, as the Father in the wonderful movie "The Namesake" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0433416/ so I went looking for some of his earlier works, and came across a real gem. We were really moved by the DVD called "Partition," a Canadian "Romeo & Juliet" style love story, which takes place during the time of the end of World War II in India, through the horrors of the Partition, when the British divided up the colony into India and Pakistan, and chaos ensued. The Kashmir born director, Vic Sarin, had problems with the critics, mostly for casting non-Indians in some of the roles, and for filming 3/4 of the movie in British Columbia. I thought it was justified, as he was struggling with a small budget, and the messages of the film so important to portray during these difficult times on the planet. In the movie, intolerance, stereotypes, and hatred bring about artificial 'partitions' between people, but the power of love proves it's ability to transcend. Besides the inspiring story, and the wonderful, heroic character of Gian, the cinematography is also fantastic, creating some amazingly lush scenes. I have heard this type of story has been done in several earlier Indian movies, but all I have seen similar is another Canadian production, Deepa Mehta's "Earth" http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0150433/

Great street image, Richard, the boards make for a good subject (even though as someone who liked two wheels I was usually not fond of skateboarders, buggers get in the way!).
