Atchen Pounapal born in Puerto del Arrecife, Lanzarote, in 1978.


He was part of the first class of high school art in Canary islands in the school of applied arts and crafts “Pancho Lasso”, he moved to Tenerife where he studied the careers of Fine Arts at the University of La Laguna and continuous training in Barcelona.

With over a dozen exhibits both collective and individual, collaborated with various artists. Doing painting, illustration, photography, ephemeral art, fashion and performance.

Currently in “Canary Island Urban Culture” with exhibitions in Dakar, Lisbon, Madrid and Berlin. With the group “El núcleo” and El Cabildo de Lanzarote.

His plastic work is very varied but all with some content poetic, almost lyrical, contrasting with shocking images, melancholic and sometimes erotic other.

For the illustrations found in the author's own iconography very timeless characters adorned with jewels and strange instruments, as if revealing a mystery.

When it comes to painting creates an atmosphere very fragile and easily by overlapping layers of paint very mild and sometimes experimenting with the technique and materials, finished the play with a short word or free text interpretation.

In actions or performances dominated a very sober and minimalist aesthetic in the beginning and then become baroque, and painterly. These actions are based on texts of classical literature that the author interprets to work with topics such as: adaptability, evolution, transformation, deconstruction or destruction that is the human being. Absolutely nothing is free in a very elaborate performance, but essentially a clean performance and stunning aesthetics.
