About me

ICQ: 197430196

Live out here in New Mexico. It once was part of Old Mexico. Now there`s McDonalds and drive-thru liquor stores instead of old Spanish Missions. I shoot with two old Pentax 35mm cameras, an Olympus E-10, Kodak DC260, a Canon 10D, and several plastic cameras, including two Holgas. Life is taking pictures, death will be somebody having to get rid of them.

In the beginning there was the traditional darkroom. About three years ago I switched to the "digital darkroom," that is to say a Mac G4 running under OS X with Photoshop, a Nikon film/slide scanner, and an Epson 1270 printer. For shows and print sales, I output to digital C-print at the local lab here in town. Most prints are in the range of 12x18.

Traditions are funny things... I rarely use plugin filters with Photoshop, except the native contrast/brightness and color correction. I attempt to emulate analog prints by using contrast and an occasional high pass filter to tweak contrast. I tone images by way of layer compositing and occasionally emulate cross processing with adjustment layers.

I don`t miss the smell of darkroom chemistry... I endured it for 20 years (I was a darkroom technician for a printing company).
