Artificial Hole


A hole created in order to demystify the whole concept of accident, to originate a new circumstance to the accident’s perception - the rough. A seriously planned and calculated accident, truly phony: a misinterpretation, a misstatement, an adornment of mistake, and artificiality, in which this error take a turn for the artificial.

This hole is cut out by two boards - opposite to each other, upright. There is a mirror at one’s bottom, and wood at another, which create an ambiguous image in its carved sides. The meeting point is wooden: a pink-pored fabric, a television showing videos and electro music, and a wall full-covered by digitalized and colored pictures – next to which lays a stereo playing ordinary people’s statement in English, Spanish and Portuguese.

The work of art Artificial Hole shows several facets of the created hole, which is subdivided in two faces: one upon the other, revealing the duplicity of artificial way proposed. These facets are represented by pictures, a TV connected to a VCR and a stereo, a pink-pored fabric and a wooden lamina. In other words, at one bottom a slashed mirror, and a whole wooden at another. The purpose is de-glamour one of them.

Projected holes: a possibility to recycle urban happenings even causes a turning point during the understanding of this particular event; a demonstration of this ordinary and insecure aspect inherent in a city’s life. That means a hole. In this case, plain and projected, restored and de-codify, hole that maintains its quotation and goes further – realizes in detour.

In an exposition area, there is this artificial way of a happening, which conducts to a new version of perception.

An artist has the delicate condition of reproducing an event and overthrowing it from reality, in order to change its interpretation. This A-hole creates the circumstances of causing commotions from a fake and disarranged organization, inside this supposed paradox: hole, that usually would cause disturbance, and whole holes in general stay on a temporary situation.

The accidental temporary state of a hole addresses to a repair, although in this presentation it also addresses to art, artifice and artifact.

In each internal part of the cut-out, there is an adorned facet of the hole’s inside – consisting on TV, VCR, photographs, fabric and wood in both faces. Two holes would be built, in a 90º position, causing a looking-glass sensation.

On the hole below, there will be a stereo system playing spontaneous statements – in English, French, Spanish and Portuguese – about deception caused by an amount of several reasons.

Thus, at this hole below there is a stereo system attached on the scene.
