The passing of Mr. Nick Colella.
2/23/09Nick passed away in the Sayer, Pennsylvania, Robert Packer Hospital. He had been in and out of a coma for a few days. My deepest sympathy to his family. He leaves behind two sons and a wife.
I considered Nick a good friend, with whom I shared many hours. He went through some tough times, but I would prefer to remember the good ones. I was always glad to see Nick and I think he enjoyed hanging out with me as well. For the last few years Nick was finally living inside an apartment and away from the streets. We kept in touch by telephone and talked about people and places we both knew. I am going to miss him a lot. God Bless you Nick.
*Jamie: I hope that you don’t mind me re posting this on Nick’s page. I am very sad that Nick didn’t meet you and reconnect with his sons and Grandson. The families of the homeless suffer in not always knowing what’s happened to their lost loved one. We tried to find Nicks sons a few years ago and then again just recently when he was in the hospital. “This is my future husbands father. He disappeared 12 years ago and I now realize behind every homeless man or women is sorrowful sad depressing story. Unfortunately we did not know this site was here and to think everyday he was under a couple of buttons from coming but never found. To scared to find his family. I wish this site could get to the general public better for lost families to find each other under live circumstances and not the way we found Nick. I’m also so thankful that Gary had found nick and put all this up because it fills a seven year gap and his story is told to our family. God bless you Gary and god bless you Nick rest in peace.”

Hi there, I really like and respect your work. Thanks for teaching us all about the homeless and what they have to go through. Its so easy just to get on with our comfortable lives and not give a thought to how others live. Vivien

I do not mind at all gary. I read through alot and seen some good comments and some bad and I want you to know that I agree with this 100% you show true realities that the common wealthy man ignores to see and spits on the fact of this life. What he doesnt know is that even in your pictures if you look deep into there eyes you see pain and you see a common man looking for love. they are all like us they are no different from us because of the way they live and sometimes they did not chose this way of there life and others have. I feel its not fair to judge cause ultimately one day we will all be judged by the sole judger and he is gonna ask why we judged knowing we are not suppose to. I dont feel that you are doing any wrong and I dont think you should ever second guess your work gary and I am glad that when you did second guess it you decided to continue on other wise Nicks Story would not have been told. And so many others would not have been told. This sight underneathe the true realities of how bad the world is at some points brings alot of good and that is what you have done
