Despite the fact that absolutely perfect adhesion between the body and the neck of an instrument is the alpha and omega of well-functioning vibration as a whole, this area is rarely given the appreciation it deserves. At Warwick, we have always placed great importance on the clean and impeccable gluing of these components. Due to the fact that we always strive to perfect our work, in the past year we have developed a high-tech gluing press of our own design, with which we have now optimized the gluing of our entire line of products with set-in necks.

The advantage of this new press is its customizable pressure points, which can be separately adjusted for each individual model. This provides the basis for perfect pressing, and thus guarantees optimal adhesion. During the gluing process, the presses first push together along horizontal and vertical planes very slowly and with very little pneumatic pressure. This way, the instrument can still be readjusted if, as the case may be, excess glue starts to pool in the joints. It’s still not too late to ensure an ultra-thin (optimal!) gluing. In the next step, pressure increases according to what’s best for individual models. The result: a neck and body cleanly bonded together with an ultra-thin layer of glue, which now enables the perfect transfer of vibration. By the way, it should be noted that our high-tech gluing press is just one of the many innovations and updates we have introduced to our machine shop in 2008.
