Early Life

One of the youngest billionaires, Mark Zuckerberg (Zuck to his friends), was born in New York City on the 14th of May 1986. His father was a stomatologist and his mother psychiatric.

He is the only son out of four children in the Zuckerberg family. At an early age, he showed interest in computers.

At the age of 12, he already created a program for a message exchange named ’ZuckNet’. His father was using this innovation in his office, and even his family was communicating through this program.

Later on, this bright-minded young man was creating games for fun with his friends. Throughout his high school days, computer programming was his hobby, but a big decision moment for his development as a programmer was when he became a student at “Harvard University”.

Creating several interesting social programs like “Facemash” and “Course Match”, he already built a positive reputation as a programmer among the students.

He never finished his studies at Harvard as he wanted to dedicate his full time to the Facebook project.

Career

The brightest day of this talented man was the 4th of February 2004, when he created an internet website www.facebook.com together with his three friends – Dustin Moskovitz, Eduardo Saverin, and Chris Hughes, right from their student room.

This website was made for the internal purpose at first, for the circle of friends from college, for texting and picture exchanges.

The group of students couldn’t possibly dream what fame and fortune Facebook would bring them in the future.

Later on, the CEO said that he came up with this idea while he was sorting out pictures in his diaries, and their name was Facebook.

At first, the website that was in use for Harvard’s students only did not give a sign that it will become a global phenomenon.

However, the number of users was growing; the access became allowed for all students from all different colleges in Boston. For the planet popularity of Facebook, 2006 was the key year since it got a new application News Feed.

With this upgrade, all users could see what their friends are doing at any time, and also it became accessible for everyone older than 13. That was the start of the new era for Facebook. No one could ever picture that one local student is going to become a global social network star!

The popularity of this network brought glory and high income to its creator, so he became one of the youngest billionaires when he was 23 only. In 2006 “Yahoo” proposed to this young businessman a tempting offer of $1 billion in the hope of becoming a new owner of a famous network that he rejected.

2012 Facebook achieved a value of 1$ billion, so he did not make a wrong decision. The American magazine “Time” added this gentleman in the list of one of the most influential people in the world in 2008, and his name ended up in the category of the top scientist reaching number 52 out of 101 people.
