HTC was one of the first movers of the Dual camera technology on smartphones. The HTC EVO 3D was one of the first dual camera smartphones to launch back in the day, but since the poor implementation of 3D, the device never succeeded. However, right after the U11+ launch event, HTC President Chialin Chang speaking has confirmed that the company would re-enter the dual-camera smartphone space in 2018.
When Engadget has asked Chang about the canceled HTC made Google Pixel 2 XL phone that looks very much similar to the U11+ launched yesterday he said, Avoiding going into the details, Chang said that like this year, the company will be launching only five to six smartphones next year as well.
HTC has just unveiled its U11+ and U11 Life smartphone. The HTC U11+ is the first smartphone by the company to come with edge-to-edge display. The U11 Life falls under the Android One project. Both the smartphones also come equipped with the Edge Sense support which was introduced with the HTC U11. The company has priced the HTC U11+ at EUR 799, while the HTC U11 Life comes with a price tag of $349.
Some of the key specifications of the U11+ are 6-inch Quad HD+ display 2.5GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 835 processor, 6GB RAM, 128GB storage, 12MP UltraPixel rear camera, 8MP front-facing camera and 3930mAh battery. Measuring 158.5x74.9x8.5mm, the smartphone also comes with HTC BoomSound and HTC USonic earbuds for enhanced audio experience.
