Karlie Elizabeth Kloss was born on August 3, 1992, in Chicago, Illinois, USA. Her family is of Danish, German, and Polish descent. Her mother, Tracy, was a freelance director, and her father, Kurt, was a physician. She has three siblings.

Joining forces with Elite, she worked with Abercrombie Kids and their photographer Bruce Weber. She worked under Elite for some time, until finally replacing them with NEXT Model Management in early 2008. During the course of all 4 2008’s Fashion weeks, Kloss walked in 64 shows.

Frustrated that they had lost their grip on the young star, Elite Model Management sued NEXT. She had found her way out of this legal dispute once the case was settled out of court.
