Good day!
the idea of this site is to learn a liitle bit more about reggae musicians & their music!
As you might already know reggae music is not only roots, like other types of music, there is an entire spectrum of styles within it, from dub to dancehall.
The first ReggaE-Artist to be presented in this site is Jacob Miller
Jacob Miller joined the the group "Inner Circle" in 1974, by that time he was already gaining recognition in Jamaica, when he released his first song "Love in the Ghetto" for studio one in 1968 at the age of 10 and at 16 he worked with producer Augustus Pablo, to record a series of successful tunes including "Each one Teach one" and "False Rasta".
The first song Miller recorded with Inner Circle was "Tenement Yard," a personal lament for Rastas lack of privacy in the ghettos. This song became the singer's biggest hit. The group also recorded songs that were submitted to Jamaica's Festival Song competitions. The most famous contribution, "All Night 'Till Daylight," was placed at second because the judges-it has been claimed - "didn't want dreadlocks representing Jamaica" that year.
Jacob Miller was industrious and with "Inner Circle their success was bright. Their "Uptown roots" sound caught the attention of Capitol, then Island Records and they recorded the hit "Everything is great" Bad things happen and sometimes unexpectedly. Jacob Miller died in a car crash on March 23rd, 1980. That was a great set back for the band.

http://www.artistdirect.com/nad/window/media/page/0,,131563-1713560-WMLO,00.htmlPlease Mr Minister, a word with you
Only take a minute, sir, so don't you screw
You no fight 'gainst the rum head
You no fight 'gainst the wine head
You no fight 'gainst the cigarette smoking
Yet you know, yet you know these things give cancer
Rastaman knows the truth
So you can't fool the youth
What was hidden from the wise and prudent
Shall reveal to the babe and suckling
Tell me why do you fight against the collie man
Yet you know, yet you know it's the healing of the nation
Too much partialism inna dis world yeah
God knows all of these things give cancer
Liar man, doctor man, Indian chief
Babylon kingdom know the truth
Yet them know, yet them know it's the healing of the nation
Yet them know, yet them know it's the truth
Tell me why do you fight against the collie man
Yet you know, yet you know it's the healing of the nation
Yet them know, yet them know it's the curing of cancer
Rastaman knows the truth
So you can't fool the youth
Natty dreadlocks knows it's the truth
So you can't fool the youth
Yet them know, yet them know it's the healing of the nation
Yet them know, yet them know these things give asthma, razma, chrasma
Natty dreadlocks know, Natty dreadlocks know
Natty dreadlocks know, Natty dreadlocks know
Knowing the truth, the truth that collie will cure cancer...
