This past month I have concentrating on the book of Revelation, taking in as much of it I can and I came across just a tiny piece of it and it blow my mind. It is in chapter three and its verse twelve. In context before I give you the verse is that it’s Paul writing to the church of Philadelphia, concerning how they are as a church. What a church it is as well, there can be found no negatives just positives about the church where the only other church who has only positives is Smyrna. My
interpretation of these letters to the churches is that they are actual churches at the time, but more importantly they are seven ages of the church and actual states of the church nowadays. Well here is the verse,
He who overcomes, I will make him a pillar in the temple of My God, and he shall go out no more. I will write on him the name of the city of My God, the new Jerusalem, which comes down out of heaven from My God. And I will write on him My new name.
What I want to focus on is the last few words, And I will write on him My new name. This is the few words the other night blew my mind. My image of Jesus Christ was the man who walked this earth over two thousand years ago, but Christ is so much more then that man. He hasn’t revealed himself completely to us, and we won’t know Him fully until we are with Him in person. I have always focused myself on the Jesus who walked this earth and not the God who created all things.
He is far more greater then we can ever come up with in our own minds, and the fact He has withheld His new name to us just shows to me his humbleness towards us. That this God, who is far out our own understanding, loved us so much that He came to earth as a man and willingly gave himself for our sins. He humbled himself to become one of us, to teach us and to live like one of us, coming away from His greatness in heaven. I mean wow my God who is far greater then I can ever imagine, loved me so much that He did this just so I can be saved.
