Frances Houseman, conhecida como Baby, está passando férias com a família num resort em Catskills. Um dia ela descobre onde os funcionários do hotel se divertem e dançam, e acaba se apaixonando por Johnny, o instrutor de dança. Quando a parceira de dança de Johnny fica grávida, ao se envolver com um dos garçons, Baby se oferece para aprender a dançar e substituir a moça. Mas o pai de Baby, quando descobre, não aprova, pois considera que Johnny é de outra classe social.
