Lamb to the slaughter:

2-Name the setting: The story commences with a picture of a normal house, in a middle class, domestic setting.
3-Describe the rising action: When Patrick told to Mary that he want to break up she entered in a shock so she went to the kitchen and caught something to supper from the freezer. She takes a leg of lamb. Apparently trying to restore to sense of normality. Then he says her not to make any dinner because he is going out. Without pauses she approaches and shot the leg of lamb with all her forces. This beat his head and he fall over the floor.
4-They have more sympathy for the murderer than the victim because she had a perfect story. She made believe them that she was the victim cause now she doesn’t know what happened whit her husband and she was very sad of the murder of him.
5-Pick up the words that indicate that Mary does not think before she strikes her husband: ‘’ I will get the supper’’, “She couldn’t feel her feet touching the floor’’, “except a slight nausea and a desire to vomit’’, ‘’they would have lamb for supper’’.
6-Mary’s wanted to cover up the crime because she was afraid about what will pass with her son.

8-Yes because the title says the weapon of the crime. If the title was only slamb you couldn’t realise but it says ‘’to the slaughter’’ so the reader suspects.
9-One of the points that indicate that Mary will destroy the weapon of the crime is when she prepares the leg of lamb and places it in the oven. Then when she was practising a show of cheerful and normal day for show to Sam.

An important letter


“The weapon probably right under our noses… wait a minute John, only Mary was at home when the accident happened, call her I want to answered some questions about the relationship with her husband” said Martin while he was eating the meal.
Mary was hearing everything from her room so she escaped through the service door immediately.
When the investigators didn’t find her in the house, they started to suspect the worst, that Mary could be a possible guilty of her own husband murder.
John started to revise the entire house to find some tracks that help him to discover how the accident happened. Firstly he didn’t find anything but when he went to Mary’s room saw a letter on her bed. He opened the envelope and started to read it.

Dear mum:
The coexistence with my husband is getting bad. Everyday, he comes back late at nigh with alcohol smell and he treats me violently.
Yesterday he returned home earlier but he started to shout me and beat me. I couldn’t tolerate this situation any more, if he had continued living in this way, he would kill me. But I did it first, I murdered him mother.
I know that it sounds terrible but it was the only thing I could do. Now, the investigators are eating the weapon but they haven’t realised yet. So I have to go far away from here. Sorry mum, I promise that I will write you to tell you where I’m staying.

When John finished reading, he felt really stupid because he was deceived by Mary. He told Martin about the letter and both called the police to start looking for Mary immediately.
At first, the search didn’t have success but then the investigators found her dead in a simple hotel out of the city; she had killed herself with a poison.
