the nutria :

The nutria, Myocastor coypus, is a large semi-aquatic rodent. The generic name is derived from two Greek words (mys, for mouse, and kastor, for beaver) that translate as mouse beaver.

If you keep your eye open other animals can be seen.

Hi Arwal!

Great shot! Love the water -- both around this animal and the reflection -- really cool :)

Like the quote, too -- a very nice thought :)

Thanks for your comments! Yes, I call my weekend photos "bonus photos" -- they often differ from the theme I'm trying to present for a week. My picture the other day (November 1) of the duck and the cormorant in the water -- showing the sizes -- the darter/anhinga anhinga is just about the same sizse as the cormorant and the duck. The darters and cormorants also have webbed feet like ducks. In fact, I saw an anhinga walking on the grass a few weeks ago and it had that same clumsy waddle that ducks have :)

Hope you have a great week!!!

Hugs,

Ana

P.S. There aren't many darters around -- it's kind of rare it's at that park and I've seen only 1 or 2. A flogger from Brazil said they have them down there.

Gorgeous pic!!!

Hugs from Brazil!

Water animals always make me smile. I would love to get a beaver picture for my flog but I've had no luck so far.

All good things!
Cindy

There was a time I saw a documentary of otters and I really liked them, swim beautifully, and I wanted to have one!!

There are also otters in front of your house?

Wonderful shot. I never seen this animal.
