Pop-punksters Blink-182, regarded Worldwide for their catchy melodies and their satirical toilet humour, were originally known as simply ‘Blink’ until the threat of a lawsuit from a similary named , a techno band forced them to add the random number 182. Formed in suburban San Diego in 1993, the band went on to sell several million copies of their albums and become one of the world’s most wanted and most emulated pop-punk acts.

Drummer Travis Barker , who also plays for Boxcar Racer and The Transplants , shocked the music world in February 2005 when he announced that Blink-182 were taking an indefinite break. On what it might be the band’s last tour as he heads towards an uncertain future (all captured on film for an MTV ‘The Osbournes’ – style reality show called ‘Meet the Barkers’)
Travis uncovers the tattoos that bound him into the music.


’’I had my first tattoo when I was 16. I wanted to get tattooed just to start documenting things that meant a lot to me on my body , you know. I started with my leg, the ‘BONES’ tattoo which was my nickname when I was going out skateboarding. And then I found getting tattooed didn’t hurt and I really, really wasn’t interested in having a regular job , you know what I mean , so I made it so I couldn’t get a normal job. I’m tattooing my whole body so I have to play music.

My second tattoo was a memorial for my mother who passed away when I was 16, the Virgin Mary in my right forearm done by John Sanchez.
Between the ages of 16 and 21 I was trying to prove a point, that I was going to play music all my life, that I wasn’t going to do anything else and that I couldn’t fall back on anything else . My pop and everyone was like ‘’You don’t have anything to fall back …
